Being a mom of a now of a seven year old and five year old and now two month old wow, I so appreciate the newborn stage, even though the nights are long the years are super fast. My lifestyle newborn sessions are about documenting the connection and preserving the authentic, everyday moments of newborn care, including snuggles, cuddles, and feeding.
Your images will serve as cherished memories, transporting you back to the emotions and joy of those early days as your little one grows.
Newborn session will take place in the cozy and comfort of your home. I typically just use two room, this could be a nursery, couch, Master bedroom, or any space with ample natural light. This means leave the kitchen and the playroom a mess I do not mind, that is life, only need to clean up the two rooms we will be using yay!

Upon Arrival: My initial focus is on checking in and introducing myself to the family, particularly the siblings if there are any, helping them feel comfortable with someone entering in their home. Subsequently, I’ll explore your home to identify well-lit spaces ideal for family and sibling shots. Typically, I utilize areas such as the couch, master bedroom, and nursery for capturing memorable moments. I get the challenges of having a newborn, so please don’t feel like you have to clean the house before I arrive.
Time: As a Natural Light Photographer, I use natural light in my photography. As a Natural Light Photographer, I use natural light in my photography. I love utilizing spacious windows indoors to capture the beauty of sunlight. If inside your home, I’m drawn to rooms with the best windows. The images in my portfolio look the way they do largely because of my use of light and the time of day your session takes place has a huge impact. For your Indoor Newborn session recommend session to be late morning to get ample light.
What To Wear: Encourage you opt for comfortable, neutral colors. Your comfort is key, and I’m open to discussing wardrobe choices further if needed. Choose tops or blouses/dresses with light neutrals such as beiges, grays, whites, pinks, creams or mild color hues for your newborn session. It’s ok to be casual and pair neutral tops with jeans. Your newborn is the star of the photo session, skip the bright colors or busy patterns, stick to simple onesie that is formfitting with no graphics or words. This usually means that you will need a preemie or newborn sized onesie. Feel free to email any questions. Check out my Pinterest board for some color ideas.
Newborn: Your newborn is perfect just the way he or she is. I won’t try to make babies sleep or place them in unnatural poses. Children often guide the pace of the session, and I never insist on having a crying child pose in front of the camera. Instead, I provide room for the child to take a break as needed. What is important is that we capture this beautiful time in your life. I suggest you have your newborn in a simple onesie that is formfitting with no graphics or words. This usually means that you will need a preemie or newborn sized onesie. I will likely take it off and get some nude/ near nude newborn photos as well. Also, please gather a few favorite swaddle blankets for your baby to be wrapped in. I recommend feeding the baby as much as he or she wants about 15 minutes prior to my arrival.
Mom and Dad: Please anticipate a mix of joy and exhaustion with your new baby. It’s a challenging yet beautiful season. As a licensed clinical social worker working in the area of mental health, I can grasp the highs and lows that sometimes can happen in this season. My goal isn’t to portray perfection but to capture the genuine beauty of this moment. I want you to relax and be yourselves during the session; there’s no need for anything else.
Older Siblings: Having kids of my own, I understand the adjustment a new baby brings. I prioritize sibling and family photos early in the session, knowing their interest may shift quickly. I have no rigid expectations and won’t force them into anything uncomfortable. It’s helpful to prepare siblings by letting them know a friend is coming to take family photos—no surprises helps create a more relaxed experience.
Props: I do not bring props during my sessions, however if you have something in mind please let me know and we can incorporate it.
LOOKING FORWARD TO CAPTURING THIS SEASON OF LIFE! FEEL FREE TO MESSAGE ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
