Every year I get request here in Long Beach, CA and surrounding cities for fall and winter photos. I see also a lot of last minutes request on Facebook groups of mom’s searching for a last minute session to take their end of the year photos. This raises the question is there another season that would be good time to take your family photos?

I think summer time is a great time -the sun is out, the weather is nice and sunny but if that is still not enough to convince you check out these other reasons:

Schedules: I do not know about you but when my kids where in the traditional school setting, every week felt like the Olympics, event after event and at the time they were at two different schools so that added another level of strategy. During summer time your not competing with school calendar activities, any extra curricular schedule and the list that can go on and on. Summer time most things that your kids may be involved in are optional, allowing you less headache of trying to sort out one day and hour you can carve out to get the family together.

Less crowd: Since most people wait until Fall and Winter time Summer time is perfect because you have more access to those beautiful picturesque backgrounds without the major crowds. This is perfect for families who may not want a lot of eyes on them when there creating family memories or maybe can be distracted by having a lot of people around. Less crowds always means more access to all different parks of the location selected. During certain seasons when crowds are at large, certain spaces may be off limits because too many people are seeking that same spot. So less crowds= more for you.

Perfect Weather: Summer sessions almost always guarantee you will have the perfect golden hour sunset. The chance of weather being gloomy, cloudy or even rainy is very small chance in the summer time. During the summer you get guaranteed access to beautiful golden hour lightening, which is a must for creating cohesive dreamy photos for you to have for years to come.

Sometimes Change is Needed: If you are someone who always takes your photos during the fall or winter time, summer time is a great time to switch it up. You get to experience a different wardrobe look, different season and weather. Also plus side with the busyness that comes after summer season is over, wouldn’t it feel nice to know you have one thing already completed off the ongoing checklist. You can have those holiday photos already done so that by the time fall comes and the rush of holiday cards being shipped out, you can sit back relaxed knowing that you already got your pictures done! sounds like a win to me!!
